Riverside leverages third-party AI sub-processors and our own in-house AI to streamline your workflow from start to finish. Editing that would normally take you hours can now take seconds and is extremely precise.

What we're building
AI features
The following AI features are optional. This means you must actively choose to use them by clicking a button to apply the feature.
To opt-out, simply avoid applying the feature to your edit.
- Magic Audio - Enhances your audio tracks, delivering sharp, studio-quality sound with less background noise and reverb.
- Magic Clips - Quickly identifies the highlights from your recorded conversation or uploaded files, making you a high-quality, shareable video clip of your recording session.
- Full Episode - Applies key edits, like removing all silences and adding animated captions, so your recording is ready to share in just a click.
- AI Show Notes - Generates a text summary about the content discussed in the recording along with keywords, takeaways, and sound bites from the session.
- AI Chapters - Organizes your recording into distinct sections based on the different topics covered, so listeners can easily navigate your recording.
- AI Voice - Converts written text to audio speech by using a simulated version of your voice.
Core product
We use AI generated transcriptions to ensure you and your guests have a one-of-a-kind experience with Riverside. Transcriptions are foundational to our product, meaning you cannot opt-out of using it when using Riverside.

The safety precautions we've taken

Our AI systems are built to respect privacy rights and are designed with robust data security measures in place to safeguard your personal information.
Third-party AI sub-processors
All third-party AI sub-processors have undergone a thorough security review and approval process by our Security Team and are subject to Data Processing Addendums to ensure that:
- They do not use customer data to train their own models.
- Processing of data is limited to the provision of the services.
In-house AI models
We adhere to our internal AI Development Policy that governs the development, deployment, training, and use of machine learning models and AI technologies at Riverside, including ethical considerations, privacy, accuracy, and security.
These guidelines ensure that our AI features are designed with your safety and privacy as top priorities. -
Your responsibilities
Validation and verification
When using our AI features, it's crucial to enter unbiased, acceptable inputs according to our Terms and Conditions, and validate and verify the outputs generated before sharing or publishing your work.
While our AI technology strives for accuracy, it's still up to you to ensure the output is polished and appropriate to your liking and to our terms of use.
Your responsibility for input and output in AI tools
You are responsible for the content, media, text, and any images you upload and record using Riverside’s AI tools, as well as the resulting content generated.

We continuously monitor our AI features to ensure they operate safely and effectively.
Feedback from users is actively used to improve our AI technologies and address any concerns that may arise.

AI at Riverside FAQs

How do I opt in or out of using AI?
Electing to use any of our AI features is at your sole discretion, meaning you have the freedom to decide to use them or not.
By simply not using the AI tools available, you are electing to opt out.
Business users can disable AI post-production tools by following these steps.
Please note, this does not include AI Transcriptions as this is part of our core product that ensures you and your guests have a one-of-a-kind experience with Riverside.

What personal data will third-party AI sub-processors have access to?
It’s important to note that as you have full control of the information you choose to record, upload, and publish on our platform, you solely determine if and what personal data may be contained in your transcripts.
Depending on the nature of your content and the information you choose to share in the recording, you might inadvertently be submitting personal data such as names, contact information, information about a person’s family, or other sensitive information - which will be shared with OpenAI for the purpose of only extracting relevant highlights.
Open AI
- Recording transcripts (i.e. text files only)
Eleven Labs
- 30 seconds of audio recording with the account owner’s voice (Read more: How does AI voice work?)

How long will third-party AI sub-processors keep my data?
Open AI
- OpenAI has committed to retaining any data we send to them for a maximum of thirty (30) days.
Eleven Labs
- Eleven Labs has committed to retaining any data for no longer than needed, and then archiving it for 28 days before permanently deleting it.

Will my data be used to train models?
Third-party AI sub-processors
No. Our third-party AI sub-processors have entered binding agreements whereby they commit not to use any of the data you submit to train its own models.
In-house AI models
Riverside uses in-house AI models for audio enhancement and other optimization purposes, and may use your data to train and improve these models. Please note that Riverside does not use customer content for such training purposes and only uses metadata relating to how customers edit their content.
As previously noted, we follow a strict internal AI Development Policy that governs the development, deployment, training, and usage of AI technologies.
Riverside Business customers may opt-out from such training at their own discretion and should contact their AE and/or CSM for more information. -
Is customer data sold or shared as such terms are defined under the CCPA?
No. Our agreement with our data sub-processors does not permit this. -
