Edit a Recording using the Transcript

Riverside's text-based editing lets you search and trim your recording using the transcription of the conversation that Riverside generates automatically.

Step by step

  1. On a computer, log in to your Riverside account.
  2. Under Studios, click the relevant Studio.
  3. Click the relevant recording.
  4. In the top right corner, click Edit & create clips.
    Or scroll to Clips and click a clip with a Draft label.
  1. Above the timeline, click transcript_icon_bk.svg Transcript.

    Search for a Word or Phrase

  2. At the top of the page, click the search.svg Search box.
  3. Type a word or phrase to search.
  4. Press Enter to highlight the term in the timeline.
  5. Click ⌄ chevron-down.svg or ⌃ chevron-up.svg to navigate to each result in the timeline.

    Remove a Word or Phrase

  6. Click and drag to select a word, phrase, or multiple lines.
  7. Click delete-remove_trash.svg Delete or press Backspace to remove it from the recording.

    Remove a Larger Section

  8. Click a word at the desired section start-point.
  9. Above the timeline, click split-timeline-20x20.svg Split.
  10. Click a word at the desired section end-point, then click split-timeline-20x20.svg Split.

  11. Above the timeline, click delete-remove_trash.svg Remove or drag the trimming handles to remove the section.

    Restore a Section

  12. Highlight the text that was removed.
  13. Next to the text, click revert-edit.svg Revert.

Phrases and sections you remove are shown in grey. They do not appear in search results.

NOTE:
If multiple participants spoke at the same time, you may still see their words in the transcript after you have removed that section from the recording.
