If your video looks glitchy, disrupted, pixelated, or flickering, try one or more of the steps below to fix it.
General troubleshooting
- Refresh the Studio page.
- Test with a different camera.
If using an external webcam or camera
- Confirm that the cable connecting to the device and the computer is not loose or damaged.
- Use the original cable that came with the camera, if possible.
- Do not use any additional USB hubs or adapters, as they can reduce the data rate between the camera and computer.
- Turn off any automatic features, like auto-exposure, automatic white balance, or auto-focus.
If using camera manufacturer's software or a virtual camera app
- Turn off any automatic features, like auto-exposure, automatic white balance, or auto-focus.
- Turn off any video preview in the app or software, if possible.
NOTE:
If you have a video issue that you cannot resolve, record and keep an example of it to share with Riverside's Support team. Please make a note of time in the recording where you see the issue.
Video is 'flickering'
- Close all other programs and browser tabs, especially those that may be using your camera.
- If closing a program that is using the camera is not an option, then try to turn off the video preview in that program so only Riverside displays the video signal.
NOTE:
Even if you see a flickering during a live call while using a virtual camera or other camera software, it may not be present on the recorded video track.
- If closing a program that is using the camera is not an option, then try to turn off the video preview in that program so only Riverside displays the video signal.
- Check if the space where you are recording uses fluorescent lighting.
- If so, find a different light source––natural lighting is usually best––or change the Studio's frame rate.
