How can I check my internet bandwidth and set-up?

Recording with Riverside is optimized for all internet speeds, although we recommend using a connection with an overall upload speed faster than 5 mbps (megabits per second).

To check your bandwidth and set-up before you record, follow the steps below.

On a computer

  1. Load the pre-call System Connectivity Test in your browser.
  2. Choose a camera and microphone.
  3. Click Continue.
    • You may see a prompt to allow the test to access your camera or microphone. Click Allow.
The page measures your upload and download bandwidth for 12-20 seconds.
  4. When you see ✓ Test done, hover your mouse over the chart of results.
Most download values should be above 10 Mbps and most upload values should be above 5 Mbps.
  5. If you're having connection issues, click Save results to create a text log that you can share with Riverside support.

On a mobile device

  1. Download the Ookla speedtest app (iOS) (Android).
  2. Launch the app and at the bottom of the screen, tap Speed.
  3. To begin a general bandwidth test, tap Go.
  4. Wait for the test to complete.
  5. At the top of the screen, tap the share icon.
  6. At the bottom of the screen tap Video.
  7. Wait for the test to complete.
  8. At the top of the screen, tap the share icon.
TIP:
For best results, turn off any network firewalls or VPN. You can also test your overall internet speed here.
