Recording with Riverside is optimized for all internet speeds, although we recommend using a connection with an overall upload speed faster than 5 mbps (megabits per second).
To check your bandwidth and set-up before you record, follow the steps below.
On a computer
- Load the pre-call System Connectivity Test in your browser.
- Choose a camera and microphone.
- Click Continue.
- You may see a prompt to allow the test to access your camera or microphone. Click Allow.
The page measures your upload and download bandwidth for 12-20 seconds.

- When you see ✓ Test done, hover your mouse over the chart of results.
Most download values should be above 10 Mbps and most upload values should be above 5 Mbps. - If you're having connection issues, click Save results to create a text log that you can share with Riverside support.
On a mobile device
- Download the Ookla speedtest app (iOS) (Android).
- Launch the app and at the bottom of the screen, tap Speed.
- To begin a general bandwidth test, tap Go.
- Wait for the test to complete.
- At the top of the screen, tap the share icon.
- If needed, share a link to your results with Riverside support.
