My live stream isn't working

« To Live streaming: Overview

Troubleshooting for:

Please note:

  • The live stream video feed is not visible on other platforms until you start the Recording on Riverside. It takes around 30 seconds for the video to appear on the sites you are live streaming to.
  • Producers cannot be seen and heard in the live stream, even if they turn on their camera and mic. However, participants recording in the Riverside Studio can hear and see them.

Suggested steps

  • Be sure you meet the requirements for live streaming to the platform.
  • From the live stream settings, next to any platform you do no want to stream to, turn its toggle off toggle-off.svg. For platforms you do want to stream to, be sure the toggle is on toggle-on.svg
    • If you are live streaming to multiple platforms at once, turn the toggle on toggle-on.svg for just one platform at a time to test if the live stream works on that platform.
  • If you set up a live stream connection to a social platform, disconnect from it and re-add it.
  •  Disconnect any platforms that you do not want to stream to.
  • If the website connection requires you to add RTMP details to Riverside, delete the Stream Key and Stream URL and re-add them.
    • Generate a new Stream Key from the website (if possible) and add it to Riverside.
    • Check on the website whether the Stream URL starts with RTMP:// or RTMPS://. If the URL includes the S, try removing it from the Stream URL field on Riverside.
  • Delete the text in the Stream URL and Stream Key fields for any platforms that you do not want to stream to.
  • Check if the Studio's recording type is set to Audio only. If so, change it to Video & audio.
  • Turn the public audience link on.
  • Add the site via RTMP, instead of through the direct a live stream connection.
  • Create a new studio and try setting up the live stream there.
  • If you see an Error indication next to a destination on the live stream panel: 'Ready to stream'
