Live stream to a Facebook Live Video Event

Live stream your Riverside recording session as a Live Video Event on Facebook and invite viewers ahead of time. You can also live stream to your Facebook profile, Facebook group, or Facebook page.

Please note:

We are gradually releasing updates to live stream features. If you see Status=Disabled, Hover=Yes (1).png at the top of your studio, scroll to the bottom of the article for the beta version steps.

Step by step

  1. Using a computer, log in to Facebook.
  2. Go to the Facebook homepage.
  3. Under What's on your mind?, click Live Video.
  4. In the panel on the left, click Choose where to post.
  5. Select Post on timeline, Post to Page you manage, or Post in group.
  6. On the right, under Create live video event, click Select.
  7. On the Create event page, enter event details.
  8. Click Create event.
  9. Click Set up live video.
  10. On the left side of the Create live video page, choose where and when to post about the event.
  11. Under Select a video source, click Streaming software.
  12. Under Stream key, click Copy.
  13. Paste the Stream key in the Live Stream settings of your Riverside Studio.
  14. Return to Facebook and click Advanced Settings to display the Server URL.
  15. Next to Server URL, click Copy.
  16. Paste the Server URL in the Live Stream settings of your Riverside Studio as Stream URL.
  17. In the Riverside Studio, start recording to start the live stream feed.
  18. On Facebook, preview the video at the bottom of the Create live video page.
  19. Click Go live now to make the video feed visible to attendees on the Event page.

Step by step - beta version 

  1. Log in to Facebook.
  2. Go to the Facebook homepage.
  3. Under What's on your mind?, click Live video.
  4. In the panel on the left, click Choose where to post, either Post on timeline, Post to Page you manage, or Post in group.
  5. On the right of the page, at the bottom of the Create live video event panel, click Create event.
  6. On the Create event page, in the panel on the left, enter the details about the event. 
  7. Click Next.
  8. Add any additional details or settings for your event.
  9. Click Create event.
  10. In the pop-up, click Set up live video.
  11. In the middle of the page, under Select a Video Source, click Streaming software.

  13. On Riverside, open the Custom RTMP live stream settings.
  14. In the Stream Key field, paste the Stream Key.

  15. On Facebook, under Stream key, click Advanced Settings.
  16. Under to Server URL, click Copy.
  17. On Riverside, in the Stream URL field, paste the Stream URL.
  18. Click Add.
  19. On Facebook, on bottom-left of the page, click Save changes.
    View your event on Facebook by clicking Your Events
  20. When it's time for the event, click Go live to start the live stream.
  21. On Facebook, preview the video at the bottom of the Create live video page.
  22. Click Go live now to make the video feed visible to attendees on the Event page.
