What is required to live stream?

Many social media platforms have requirements for live streaming. Before streaming your Riverside recoding, be sure you meet the site's requirements.

Yes.

How many channels can I stream to at once?
As many as you'd like!

Can I schedule a live stream?
Yes. You can schedule a live stream to any site that supports scheduled streams by using RTMP.

How does RTMP streaming work?
RTMP works by breaking up the video and audio data into smaller chunks and sending these chunks out to servers, then eventually viewers.

Can I stream an audio-only live recording?
Yes, you can set the studio to audio-only to live stream only your audio and not video.

Can I embed a live Studio session on my own webpage?
Yes. Add the live-streamed video to your webpage in an iFrame.

During a live stream

Who is included in a live stream and how do they appear to viewers?
The Host and Guests appear in the live stream. Their videos are arranged right-to-left in a gallery view as they join the Studio.

Can I customize how my live stream looks to viewers?
Hosts and Producers can control who is currently live in the studio and who is backstage by hiding or showing participants.

Everything you can do in the Studio is supported in the live stream.

It expands to be a larger size than the participants' videos.

How long is the delay between the recording in the Studio and the live stream people see?
It can take around 30 seconds.

Is there a time limit on how long a stream can go?
Riverside does not have a maximum duration for live streaming, but the site you stream to may have a limit for the total time.

Can I turn on live captions for viewers in a live stream?
No. However, viewers can enable captions for themselves through their browser settings.
