You can live stream to Instagram by setting up a custom RTMP stream with Riverside.

Set up the live stream connection to Instagram
To live stream to Instagram, you must:
- Have a professional account.
- Use Instagram from a computer.
- More specifications for streaming to Instagram.
Step by step
- Join a studio session as the host or producer.
- At the top of the studio, click + Live stream.
Or, click theadd live stream destination icon.
- Next to Live stream to social, click the toggle
to turn it on.
- Click the + plus icon.
- Select Custom RTMP.
- In the Add custom service pop-up, in the Name field, enter Instagram
- In another tab, open Instagram and sign in to your account.
- In the menu on the left, click Create.
- Click Live Video.
- Add a title and choose your audience.
- Public - Content is streamed to all of your followers
- Practice - Only you can see the stream, use for test recordings
- Click Next.
- Copy and paste the Stream Key and Stream URL from Instagram in the respective fields on the Add custom service window in Riverside.
- Click Add.
Go live on Instagram
- Join a studio session as the host or producer.
- At the top of the studio, click + Live stream.
Or, click theadd live stream destination icon.
- Next to Live stream to social, click the toggle
to turn it on.
- This toggle must be turned on for Riverside to connect to your destination platforms.
- Next to your Instagram destination, click the toggle
to turn it on.
- Add a title and description for the stream.
- At the bottom of your Riverside studio, click Go live.
- Click Start recording to start the live stream.
Good to know
- The connection appears in the list of all of your connected destination platforms inside your studio. Make sure the toggle is in the on position
before streaming.
- The connection stays in your list of destination platforms, however we recommend connecting with a new Stream Key and URL every time you want to stream to make sure your connection remains unbroken.
- It may take around 30 seconds for the video to appear on Instagram.
- Videos on Instagram use a 9:16 ('portrait') frame, so some of your participants on Riverside may be cropped from the video.
