Trim and split a clip's timeline

Create shorter highlights or remove unwanted footage from any part of the recording in the Editor using the timeline's trimming handles and the Split tool. When you export the clip, Riverside only includes the timeline sections highlighted in purple that you have not removed.

You can also edit the clip's timeline using the text transcript.

Step by step

  1. Log in to your Riverside account.
  2. Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.

Split

  1. Click or drag the playhead scrubber to a point on the timeline.
  2. Above the timeline, click split-timeline-20x20.svg Split or press the S key on your keyboard.
    The media is divided into sections at the playhead.

  3. Click a section to select it and click  delete-remove_trash.svg Delete to remove it.

You can also use the keyboard shortcut:

  • S to split selected part of recording at the playhead

Trim

  1. Click and drag the trimming handles of a section to adjust its in- and out-points.

When you play back the recording in the Editor or export it clip, all removed sections are skipped.

To restore a section you removed, drag the trimming handles of the neighboring sections back together or click revert-edit.svg Undo at the top of the page.
