Adjust microphone mode in iOS

« To Best recording practices: Overview

If your iOS device has its microphone mode set to Wide Spectrum, it will pick up sounds other than your voice. Change it to Voice Isolation mode to sound clearer on the final locally recorded track.

IMPORTANT:
We only recommend using Voice Isolation to record if you are wearing headphones with a built-in microphone.

Step by step

  1. Open the Riverside app.
  2. Join a recording Studio with the microphone turned on.
  3. Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to open the Control Center.
  4. Tap Mic Mode.
  5. Choose Voice Isolation.
  6. Tap outside the menu to close it.
  7. Swipe up to exit Control Center.

Most mobile devices do not have a specific way to adjust overall audio gain (input level). A Host or Producer can adjust a participant's output volume to balance the sound during the live call, but this does not change the recorded audio signal.
