After every studio session, Riverside creates High Quality tracks for each Guest and the Host. The high quality tracks are first recorded locally on each participant's individual device and then are uploaded to Riverside during the session or right after it ends. Since the media is not recorded over the internet, these tracks are not affected by poor internet connection and have a high resolution.
IMPORTANT:
With a free Riverside account, you can download up to 2 hours of separate High Quality local and internet Backup tracks. Upgrade to a subscription plan to download more hours of separate track downloads each month. All users can export recordings as clips in the Editor.
Download High Quality Tracks in the following file types:
Video
Depending on the Studio's settings and each person's devices, video tracks can have a video resolution of up to 2160p 4K and an audio sample rate of 44.1 or 48 kHz.
Raw Video (CFR MP4)
- The participant's local video track, as recorded by their device.
- Riverside encodes the video track of each participant to have a constant frame rate (CFR).
Raw Synced Video (CFR MP4)
- The Synced version adds padding to the start of the recorded Raw Video track.
- The blank space ensures the track is aligned to the correct time when you download the tracks and combine them in editing software.
- Padding is only included if a participant joined for only part of the recording or if a screen share or shared media began after the start of the recording.
- Read more about synced tracks.
NOTES:
At this time, only video files recorded in a computer browser have a constant frame rate. Due to device limitations, separate tracks recorded with the mobile app do not yet include the empty space at the beginning of the file for placement in an offline editor.
Riverside for Business users can change the default frame rate of a Studio.
Audio
Audio tracks have 44.1 or 48 kHz sample rate depending on the Studio's settings.
Raw Audio (WAV)
- This is a participant's uncompressed, audio-only track.
- The audio is locally recorded with 16 bit depth and saved using linear PCM encoding.
Raw Synced Audio (WAV)
- The Synced version adds padding to the start of the recorded Raw Audio track.
- The blank space ensures the track is aligned to the correct time when you download the tracks and combine them in editing software.
- It is only created when the Host sets the Studio to record Audio Only.
- Padding is only included if a participant joined for only part of the recording or if the shared media began after the start of the recording.
- Read more about synced tracks.
Compressed Audio (MP3)
- The participant's audio-only track is compressed to be about one-tenth the size of the Raw Audio (WAV).
- The audio uses the same sample rate as the Studio (44.1 or 48 kHz) and is compressed to 64 kb/s.
NOTE:
If a participant shares their screen, shares a slide deck, or plays a file from the Media Board, or an Audience member joins during a Live Call-In, you can download it as a High Quality Track.
