About High Quality Tracks

The Riverside Studio creates three different types of recordings for each session: High Quality Tracks, internet Backups, and Clips and combined recordings.

High Quality Tracks are files recorded on each participant's computer or device. Unlike internet backups, they are not recorded over the internet and so they are not impacted by a slow internet connection. The locally recorded tracks can have a video resolution of up to 2160p 4K and have 44.1 or 48 kHz audio. After the tracks finish uploading at the end of the session, the Host can download each participant's track or export the combined recording as a Clip using the Editor.

IMPORTANT:
With a free Riverside account, you can download up to 2 hours of separate High Quality local and internet Backup tracks. Upgrade to a subscription plan to download 5 or 15 hours of separate track downloads each month. All users can export recordings as clips in the Editor.

Download High Quality Tracks in the following file types:

Video:

  • Raw Video (CFR MP4)
This is the participant's local video track, as recorded by their device. Riverside encodes the video track of each participant to have the same constant frame rate (CFR).
  • Raw Synced Video (CFR MP4)
If a participant joined or shared their screen or media for only part of the recording, the raw synced video track includes empty space at the beginning. This way, each track starts at the correct time when combined in video editing software. Read more about synced tracks.
    NOTE:
Riverside Teams users can change the default frame rate of a Studio.

Audio:

  • Raw Audio (WAV)
This is a participant's uncompressed, audio-only track. The audio is locally recorded with 16 bit depth and a sample rate of 44.1 or 48 kHz.

  • Raw Synced Audio (WAV)
Like the raw synced video, the raw audio may include extra space to stay synchronized in editing software. The synced audio is created if Studio's recording type is set to Audio Only.

  • Compressed Audio (MP3)
This is a participant's audio-only track compressed to be about one-tenth the size of the raw audio WAV.
NOTE:
If a participant shares their screen, an Audience member joins during a Live Call-In, or the Host plays a file from the Media Board, you can download it as a High Quality Track.
