System Requirements and Supported Browsers

You need three things to record on Riverside: a computer or mobile device to connect to the Studio, an internet connection, and some temporary device storage. Our minimum recommendations for each are below.

  • MacOS Sierra (10.12.0) or later, or
  • Windows 7 or later.

Mobile Devices

Use the Riverside mobile app on:

  • iPhones and iPads with iOS 15.0 or later.
    • Recommended hardware: iPhone X or newer, 2017 iPad models or newer.
  • Android devices with Android 5.0 or later.

Mobile browsers like Safari cannot be used to record. This also includes the Edge and Chrome mobile browsers. Chromebooks and other tablets are not yet supported.

If you are recording on your mobile device with an external microphone, check device compatibility with the app.

Some features are not available on the mobile app, such as joining an Audience Live Call-In and using Riverside's in-browser clip Editor. Posting in the Studio chat is available on iOS only (coming soon to Android).

Internet Speed

Recording with Riverside is optimized for all internet speeds, although we recommend using a connection with an upload speed faster than 5 Mbps. For best results, turn off any network firewalls or VPN.

Test your internet speed here or run a pre-call diagnostic test in your computer browser.

Device Storage

We recommend having at least 5 GB of free space available on your device to store your locally-recorded High Quality Track in your temporary files as it uploads. If you will be recording for more than 1.5 hours at once, confirm that you have more space available.

Check how much storage space your computer's browser can access.
