Join a studio as a guest

You're almost ready to join the virtual studio and start recording with your host on Riverside.

Step by step

Follow the steps below based on if you're using a computer or your mobile device.

  • Join a studio as a guest using a computer

    1. Click the Join Session button in an invite email or click a studio access link.
    2. On the lobby page, enter your name.
    3. Click to indicate whether you are using headphones.

      If you haven't used Riverside before, click Request camera permissions under your name so the browser can access your microphone and camera. Then, click Allow.
    4. Look for the video preview on the right side of the page.
    5. Use the menus to select mic, camera, and speaker.
    6. Click Join Studio to join the call.

      After the recording ends, please leave your browser tab open until you see the Successfully uploaded ✔ confirmation.
      When the host starts recording, your computer automatically saves your high-quality audio and video and begins uploading the data to Riverside.
  • Join a studio as a guest using your phone

    1. Download and launch the Riverside iOS app or the Riverside Android app.
    2. You may receive an access link from the host or an invite email from notifications@Riverside.fm.
      • If it's a studio invite link, tap the link on your mobile device.
      • If it's in an invite email, open the email on your mobile device and tap Join Session.
        The Riverside app connects to the studio.
    3. On the lobby screen, preview your video and enter Your Name, and tap Done.
    4. If asked to grant access to the microphone and camera, tap Allow access, then While using the app.
    5. Tap the camera-video-recorder.svg camera or microphone-02.svg microphone to turn them off or on.
    6. Choose your device's orientation - horizontal (landscape) or vertical (portrait). (optional)
    7. Tap Icon (5).svg to select a camera, either front-facing or back-facing. (optional)
    8. Tap ••• [the three dots], then tap second_camera-webcam.svg Use as a second camera to set up your device as a second camera. (iOS only)
    9. On the bottom of the screen, tap Join to enter the studio.

      When the host ends the recording session or after you click Leave, keep the app open until you see Upload complete! Relaunch the app if you closed it too early.
