Best practices for scheduling a live stream to social platforms

You can schedule live streams in advance and stream them directly to YouTube, Facebook, or LinkedIn. Here are some general tips for hosting a scheduled live stream on Riverside.

1. Before scheduling the live stream

  • Connect your YouTube, Facebook, or LinkedIn accounts to Riverside via the studio.

    • If an alert-circle.svg Error icon appears next to the destination, click Retry to attempt reconnection to the same platform.

  • Toggle off all streaming destinations via the studio:

    1. Go to the studio and check if any social destinations are toggled on.

    2. If any are enabled, toggle them toggle-off-grey_36x24.svg off.

  • Avoid running a test recording once the stream is scheduled and set up.
  • Do not schedule a future event while a current one is still active.
  • To fully delete a scheduled live stream, you must delete the scheduled stream directly on the destination platform as well as from within Riverside.

3. Day of the live stream

  • To modify the social media destinations for streaming, go to the scheduled event and toggle the destinations on or off. Make these changes only from the event, not in the studio.

4. Start the live stream

  • Close any unnecessary programs and browser tabs.
  • If you are currently in the studio, leave it.
  • From the project page, click Join session.
The studio opens with the livestream panel displayed, and the scheduled destinations that you set when scheduling the event are already toggled on.
  • At the bottom of the studio, click Go live to start the live stream and recording.
  • Note that only one host can modify banner settings.
