Adding comments to the transcript streamlines your editing process by pinpointing specific moments for revision, adding internal notes, and enabling quick feedback. You can comment on selected text or insert comments between words.

Step by step
- Log in to your Riverside account.
- Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.

In the Transcript, click between words to add a comment.
Or click and drag to highlight the text you want to comment on. -
Click the
Comment icon.

Type in your comment.

Click Comment.
Edit a comment
- Click the
Comment icon on the right side of the transcript.
Or, on the timeline, click the comment bubble.
- Next to the comment, click ••• [the three dots].
- Click Edit.
- Edit your text.

Click Save.
You can only edit comments that you created.
Reply to a comment
When you reply to a comment, your response is added as part of a comment thread, keeping all related discussions grouped together.
- Click the
Comment icon on the right side of the transcript.
Or, on the timeline, click the comment bubble.
- Under the existing comment, type in your reply.
- Click Reply.
Additional actions
Resolve comments
If an issue or discussion has been addressed, you can resolve the comment to reduce clutter. Resolved comments remain available for future reference and can be shown or hidden using the filter button on the transcript.

Restore resolved comments
When resolved comments are visible, they can be restored by marking them as unresolved.

2. On the top right of the comment panel, click the greenCheck icon.
Delete comments
If a comment or thread was added by mistake or contains incorrect information, you can delete it to avoid confusion.

- Click the

- Next to the comment, click ••• [the three dots].
- Click Delete comment.
Deleted comments cannot be recovered.

Delete comment thread
Deleting a comment thread permanently removes the entire thread, including all replies. Deleted threads cannot be recovered.

- Click Delete thread.

Copy comments
Copy the comment list to share all feedback in one place and keep track of important notes, or copy a link to a specific comment to easily reference and revisit key discussions.

Pro and Business account users can copy the comment list.
- At the top of the transcript, click ••• [the three dots].

Click Copy comments.
The comment list is copied to your clipboard.

Copy link to a comment
- Click the
Comment icon on the right side of the transcript.
Or, on the timeline, click the comment bubble.
- On the top right of the comment panel, click ••• [the three dots].
- Click Copy link to comment.
The link to the comment is copied to your clipboard.
Business users can copy and share a link to a specific comment to direct a team member to a particular point in the discussion and resolve feedback more efficiently.
Non-business users cannot invite others to collaborate directly within Riverside, but they can copy comments for note-taking, tracking progress, or future reference.

- Once added, each comment is time stamped and saved to the edit.
- You can add multiple comments to the same point.

For Business accounts: Any user with a seat on your Business account can see the comments you add. Comments are identified by the commenter's name along with their profile picture or initials.
IMPORTANT
Please note, comments are intended for editing purposes only. They do not carry over when you duplicate or export.
