Add music in the editor

« to Riverside editor: Overview

Add music to your recording as an intro or outro, transition, or as background music to make your video more engaging. Upload your own music or choose from our license-free music library.

You can either add music into the recording timeline itself or as overlays on top of the recording.

  • Add music overlays

    Add a music overlay to underscore your recording.
    1. Log in to your Riverside account.
    2. Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.
    3. Move the playhead to the desired position on the timeline.
    4. From the editor toolbar on the right, click Music.
    5. In the music panel on the right, hover over a selection in the music library.
      Or click Upload to upload your own audio.
    6. Click the Play.svg play icon to preview. 
    7. Click the Button Text.svg plus icon to add it as an overlay.
    8. Adjust the overlay's duration on the timeline.

  • Add music inserts

    Add music as an intro, outro, transition, or anywhere in your recording timeline.

    1. Log in to your Riverside account.
    2. Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.
    3. At the start, end, or between any splits on the timeline, click the add_element-plus.svg plus icon.
    4. Select Music.

    5. In the music panel on the right, hover over a selection in the music library or click Upload to upload your own audio.
    6. Click the Play.svg play icon to preview. 
    7. To the right of your selection, click the Button Text.svg plus icon to add it to your recording timeline.

       

  • Edit music

    Add music as an intro, outro, transition, or anywhere in your recording timeline.

    1. Zoom in on the timeline.
    2. Cut the music on the timeline to start and stop at any point of the song by adjusting the start and end handles of the music.
    3. Hover over the music timeline and click ••• [the three dots]
    4. Edit the music: 
      • Click Volume & effects to adjust the volume settings.
        • Drag the controls to set fade-in and fade-out durations, up to 5 seconds each. 
      • Click Replace to make a different music selection.
      • Click Remove to delete it from your timeline.

Icon.svg Good to Know

  • You can add an unlimited number of music tracks. However, only two tracks can overlap on the timeline at any given time.
  • Music recently added from the music library is accessible under the Recently used section in the music panel.
  • The most recent audio files you uploaded are accessible under the Recently uploaded section in the music panel.
