Attract and retain viewers' attention by displaying text and clickable links on screen in the live studio. This can help make your live video more dynamic, colorful, and interactive to viewers watching in the studio or over a live stream.

Watch a video

  • Create a new text overlay

    1. Join a studio or start a live stream.
    2. On the right side menu, click Text. 
      The Text side panel opens.
    3. In the textbox, type the text you want to display in the studio, up to 200 characters.
      A preview of the text is shown only to you on the screen.
    4. Click the link icon to add a clickable link to the text. 
      • To remove the link, click the link icon and erase the URL.
    5. Adjust the size. 
    6. Choose a color scheme.
    7. Select the text placement (left, centered, or right) on the lower part of the studio.
    8. Add a timer to set the amount of time the text displays on the screen. 
      By default, the timer is set to 10 seconds.
      • Click No Timer to show the text for an unlimited amount of time, until you click Hide.
    9. Click Save & show to immediately display the text in the live studio.
      The text shows in the lower third part of your studio. 
      • Or, next to Save & show, click the dropdown arrow to Save for later.
        Prepare up to 50 custom overlays ahead of time. They can be displayed at any time by clicking on them.   
    10. Click Hide to remove the text from the live studio.
      • If you set the timer, the text removes automatically after the set time. 
      • Click Show on a new banner to fade out the current text and fade in a new text. 

  • Choose a premade overlay

    1. Join a studio or start a live stream.
    2. On the right side menu, click Text. 
      The Text side panel opens.
    3. Under the + , hover over a premade overlay.
    4. Click Show to display the text in the live studio.
      Or before showing, click the 3 dots to Edit text, Customize the size, color, and placement, Duplicate, or Remove.

    5. Click Hide to remove the text from the live studio.
      • If you set the timer, the text removes automatically after the set time. 
      • Click Show on a new banner to fade out the current text and fade in a new text.

  • Text banners added in the studio are visible:

    • To all participants during recording

    • During live streams

  • They are not visible:

    • To participants who join via the mobile app

    • In final high-quality local tracks

    • In cloud recordings

  • Text banners carry over to the editor and can be updated there. You can also manually add text overlays in the editor at any time.

  • Links in text banners are only clickable within the Riverside studio. They are not clickable on external live streaming platforms (e.g., YouTube, LinkedIn). Additionally, links do not carry over to the editor.
