Hide, mirror, and fill tracks to change layout in the Editor

« To Video tracks layout and formatting in the editor: Overview

Mirror (flip horizontally), fill, and hide individual video tracks in the Editor to create more engaging and dynamic content.

We recommend using Smart Scenes first to quickly and accurately apply dynamic layouts to your recording, and then applying some of the effects below.

Please note:
This feature is in beta and is being released gradually to Riverside users.

Mirror a video track tile

In the Riverside studio, you see your own video track mirrored by default so it looks more familiar to you, like your reflection. To mirror, or flip, a participant's video track in the Editor, follow the steps below.

  1. Log in to your Riverside account.
  2. Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.
  1. Click on the participant's video tile you want to flip horizontally.
  2. Click the Mirror icon
Click the Mirror icon again to revert back.

The mirror effect applies to a participant's track across the entire timeline.

Fill a video track tile

Use the fill button to show a single track and hide all other video tracks during a scene. This is a great way to show only one speaker or a screen share during a segment of your video.

  1. Log in to your Riverside account.
  2. Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.
  1. Click on the participant's tile you want to fill the recording canvas with.
  2. Click the Fill icon.
The track fills the screen and all other participants are removed for the duration of that scene.
Click Unfill to return all tracks back to the canvas.

Please note that the audio for all participants is still included, even when their track is hidden or another speaker's track fills the recording canvas. However, you can mute each participant's audio for that segment and you can create and export an audio-only clip (MP3 or WAV).

Hide (remove) an individual video track

Use the hide button to control who is included on screen during a segment of your video. This is a great way to add variety, hide a screen share that's no longer relevant, or remove a participant who may have stepped away.
