Add a background blur in the studio

With visual effects, blur the background of your video while you record in the studio.

Step by step

From the lobby

  1. From your computer browser or MacOS desktop app, join a Riverside studio.
  2. On the lobby page, in your video preview, click Effects.
  3. On the panel under Blur, choose the blur.
  4. Click the X to close Visual effects panel.
  5. Click Join studio and enter the recording session.

From the studio

  1. From your computer browser or MacOS desktop app, join a Riverside studio.
  2. Ask the host to stop the recording.
  3. Hover over your video tile and click the visual-effects-wand-icon.svg Visual effects icon.
  4. On the panel under Blur, choose the blur.
  5. Click the X to close Visual effects panel.

From the Riverside iOS app

  1. Download and launch the Riverside iOS app.
  2. Tap camera-video-recorder.svg Record.
  3. In the bottom right of the lobby screen, tap the visual-effects-wand-icon.svg Visual effects icon.
  4. Tab theIcon.svgblur icon and choose the blur.
  5. Click the X to close Visual effects panel.

You can apply the blur in addition to a virtual background.

For best results, use even lighting and a clear wall behind you.

Important:

Visual effects are not yet supported for Studios set in 4K. Be sure your studio is set to 720p or 1080p to access visual effects.

System requirements: Devices must have 8 or more physical processing cores.

Virtual backgrounds and blurs are included in the final recording file.
