Troubleshooting Firewalls and networks: Server Allowlist

Troubleshooting for:

  • Unable to connect to the Riverside Studio
  • Cannot get a video/audio signal from other participants
NOTE:
If you are using a personal computer or your own network, try the abbreviated steps here first.

If you are using an institutional or corporate firewall or have other security protocols on your network, it's required to whitelist the following addresses so your device can connect to Riverside.

You may have to contact your IT/system administrator to configure rules that allow the network's outbound traffic to specific websites via ports and to approved domains.

Basic Studio Functionality

Connecting to the Studio requires allowing the following traffic:

  • Outbound TCP traffic to the specified IP addresses below using destination port 443
  • Inbound TCP established traffic in response to the outbound connections above (this will use an ephemeral port on the client side)

Please note that while this setup will allow proper connection to the Studio, media flow may not be optimal. For optimal media flow, see Optimal Media Flow below.

Optimal Media Flow: Static IPs on UDP Ports 6000-8000

For the best possible media experience, also allow:

  • Outbound UDP traffic to the specified IP addresses, using ports in the range 6000-8000
  • Inbound UDP traffic from the specified IP addresses to any random port on the client side

While this is not required, this will result in the best experience in the Studio.
