Add text overlays to your video to identify speakers, show chapter titles on-screen, emphasize certain captions, and more. 

Please note:
This animated text overlays feature is in beta and is being released gradually to Riverside users.

Step by step

  1. Log in to your Riverside account.
  2. Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.
  1. Click and select the part of transcript where you want the overlay to appear.
  2. On the context menu, click add_element-plus.svg Add and choose type_T.svg Text.transcript-add_element_mu.png
    • Or click the timeline to move the scrubber to the desired starting point. Then in the editor toolbar on the right, click type_T.svg Text.
  3. Type new text or use Riverside's suggestions.
  4. From the menu bar, change the text overlay's style, typeface, font size, color, capitalization, and alignment.
  5. To animate the text, select Animation icon.svgAnimation from the menu bar.
  6. From the animation panel, choose In to animate text as it enters or Out to animate it as it exits.
  7. Pick an animation preset from the available options.
    Hover over an animation icon to preview it.
  8. In the animation panel, under Duration, drag the scrubber to adjust the animation’s length or manually enter a precise value of up to 5 seconds.

  9. On the Text menu, click ••• [the three dots] to change the text's layer, duplicate, or remove it.
  10. Adjust the text overlay's duration on the timeline.
