Recommendations
- If your camera has software that runs your computer, it can help control frame rate and image clarity. For example, using Logi Tune for Logitech cameras allows you to turn off the camera's auto-exposure for more consistent lighting.
- Although some external cameras include a built-in microphone, we suggest using a different external mic, if available.
- Perform a test recording to see how each mic sounds.
General Troubleshooting
- Check camera's connection
- Ensure that your USB webcam is properly connected to your computer.
- Try using a different USB port or connecting without USB hubs.
- Update camera's drivers
- Make sure that you have the latest drivers from the camera manufacturer. Visit their website to download and install any available updates.
- Confirm camera permissions
- Check that your computer allows your browser to use the camera
- Check that your browser allows Riverside to use the camera
- Restart your browser or computer
- Close and reopen your browser to see if the issue persists.
- Restarting can also resolve some issues.
- Choose the correct camera
- In the Riverside settings, check that you have selected the desired camera, rather than your computer's built-in webcam or a virtual camera.
- Check camera's settings
- Open the camera settings on your computer and make sure the USB webcam is configured correctly. Adjust resolution, frame rate, and other settings if needed.
- Test camera with another application
- Try using the webcam with another video conferencing tool like Google Meet or FaceTime to check if the issue is specific to Riverside.
- Close other software
- Other software running on your computer could interfere with the signal Riverside gets from your webcam. Close any unnecessary applications and browser tabs, then try again.
- Reinstall camera drivers
- Uninstall the webcam drivers from the device manager and then reinstall them. This can help resolve driver-related issues.
- Verify internet connection
- A stable internet connection will help the experience of your live call, though your final recorded track will be higher quality. Follow these steps to check your connection.
- Update browser and operating system
- Make sure you are using the most up-to-date version of your browser, Chrome or Edge.
- Check that your computer operating system and hardware meet Riverside's minimum requirements.
