Configure Riverside with Okta SSO

Riverside for Business accounts can set up SSO (Single-Sign On) authentication with Okta.

Reach out to your account CSM to get started, then follow the steps below.

Step by step

  1. Ask your CSM for custom SSO. Be sure to share which SSO provider you use.
  2. Once your CSM confirms you can connect set-up the SSO, using a computer, log into your Riverside account.
  3. In the bottom left corner, click the account menu button.
  4. Click Manage account.
  5. Under Teams, click SSO.
  6. Under Choose an identity provider, select Okta.
  7. Log into Okta as an admin and on the menu, click Applications.
  8. Click Create App Integration.
  9. Choose SAML 2.0 and click Next.

  10. Under General Settings, next to App name, enter Riverside and upload the Riverside logo [⬇ PNG] for the Okta portal tile.
  11. Click Next.
  12. Under Configure SAML, navigate to General.
  13. On the Riverside SSO set-up page, under Single Sign-On URL, copy the URL.
  14. On Okta, next to Single sign-on URL, paste the URL.
  15. Next to Use this for Recipient URL and Destination URL, check the box.

  16. On the Riverside SSO set-up page, under Audience URI, copy the text.
  17. On Okta, next to Audience URI, paste the text.
  18. In the Name ID format dropdown, select EmailAddress.
  19. Scroll down to the Attribute Statements section.
  20. In the Name field, enter emailYou must enter this in lowercase letters.

  21. In the Value dropdown, choose user.email.
  22. Click Next.
  23. Under Feedback, select I'm an Okta Customer adding an internal app.
  24. Click Finish.
  25. In the column on the right side of the page, under SAML Setup, click View SAML setup instructions.
  26. On the SAML Setup page, copy the Identity Provider Single Sign-On URL.
  27. On the Riverside SSO set-up page, under Identity Provider Single Sign-On URL, paste the URL.

  28. On the SAML Setup page, copy the entire X.509 Certificate.
  29. On the Riverside SSO set-up page, under X.509 Certificate, paste the URL.
  30. Click Submit.
    At the top of the page, you will see a confirmation of the submission. 
  31. Log in to Riverside.fm via SSO to confirm the set-up works.
Important - new users:

Anytime a new user is added to the account, they will first need set up their Riverside account using their email and a password. Then, they can sign in using SSO.

You cannot edit the information after submitting it. If you need to make any changes, please contact your CSM. At the top of the page, you will see a confirmation of the submission.
