The default frame rate for participant tracks recorded on a computer is 24 FPS (frames per second), not 23.97 or 23.98 FPS.
On a Riverside Business plan, you can change your studio's frame rate to 25 FPS or 29.97 FPS, which effects the frame rate of the raw video and aligned video high-quality track files.
Videos exported from the editor are always in 24 FPS, despite the studio's FPS setting.
FPS for recordings on the web
- The quality of the screen share track depends on the internet connection of the participant sharing their screen.
- The frame rate for screen shares in the browser is 30 FPS.
FPS for recordings on MacOS
- If you share your screen using the MacOS desktop app, you receive high quality separate tracks for screen shares.
- The frame rate for screen shares on the MacOS app is 24 FPS, and Business plan users can adjust it to 25 FPS or 29.97 FPS.
FPS for recordings on mobile
-
Riverside automatically adjusts to the FPS supported by the mobile device. If the camera does not support your selected FPS, Riverside will record at the highest FPS the camera supports, overriding your studio settings. Additionally, if the camera or device offers higher-quality capabilities, your local track may be recorded at a higher FPS.
-
You can change the frame rate settings within your mobile device's settings (see how for iOS).

-
Recording tracks created using the Riverside mobile app are not yet available as CFR video files (they are variable frame rates).
- Before recording with the Riverside app, close all other apps, ensure you have enough storage space, and make sure you are in a well-lit space.
FPS for external file uploads
- The uploaded file's FPS is determined by the studio's FPS settings. For instance, if an external recording uploaded to Riverside is in 29.97 FPS, but the studio’s settings are set to 24 FPS, the recording will be imported at 24 FPS.
