If a participant's device has its microphone sensitivity too low or too high, they should adjust the settings on their own device so their voice will not sound distorted on the final recorded track.

IMPORTANT:
A Host or Producer can adjust a participant's output volume to balance the sound during the live call, but this does not change the audio signal that is recorded.


TIP:
If a participant has connected a dedicated external microphone to their device but it does not pick up any sound, check if the mic has a physical mute button. Also, confirm that Riverside has permission to access the mic.

NOTE: Checking audio levels in the Studio

The volume meter in the Studio screen's righthand sidebar indicates a participant's audio level. When a participant speaks, if the meter's maximum level is consistently on the right (high) end of the meter or only at the left (low) end, then they should adjust their device's settings.
